Speech
In class, we had to do persuasive speeches mine is about Why having a cat is good for health? this it
Kia ora ko Sofia toku ingoa, No reira, tena koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou katoa.
Today I will be talking to you about why having a cat is good for your health. I have a 7 year old cat called Lily. She is a special breed called Abyssinian. I got her 7 years ago and I was the one who chose her name. We got her just out of Kapiti and she is a very special family pet.
Having an animal like a cat is good for your health. They are good for your health because they keep you active. Spending time with your cat and playing with them using toys where they have to run and grab them before you move it, is an example of time you need to be active with them. They give you love and there is research that shows that caring for animals helps people who suffer from depression. One in six New Zealand adults, or 16%, or...582,000 adults were diagnosed with depression according to the mentalhealth.org website for 2013. Do you think a cat will help with depression?
Animals keep you active because you need to walk them, clean up after them and feed them. All these things take energy and commitment to be responsible. Being responsible makes you feel happy and needed.
Animals like my cat Lily give you love. This keeps you healthy because feeling loved is important for humans. It makes you feel happy and wanted. It improves your mental health. Petting your dog or cat can lower your blood pressure it helps your body release a relaxation hormone, and cuts down on levels of a stress hormone
Research shows that having an animal can help with depression. This helps your health because it gives sad people company and hope. It gives people joy and that can help people who are depressed.
Animals are amazing for your health. They keep you active, give you love and help people who suffer from depression. So if you want to be a happy and balanced person who has good mental health then get a animal. My recommendation is a cat.
